The Cat Collection – An Exhibition

After a lifetime of shooting random street stuff, I feel that I have amassed quite the collection of cat photos. I had this thought while walking through Strathcona. Part way down East Pender St. I realized I had already, that morning, taken quite a few street cat photos. It’s true all of the cats I had found were photographed while I was on the street and they were lounging around on window sills or sitting near bushes, perched on tables, gates and various other things…but I still feel ‘street cat’ communicates the vibe better than ‘seen from the street cat’…

No matter how many cats I find on my walks, my excitement over finding a photograph-able street cat never diminishes. If anything, my delight ramps higher with each cat! So because of my feelings toward street cat photos, I decided in September a clowder of street cat photos should adorn our Beau Photo gallery walls! Thus Beau Photo shall host a street cat photography show featuring all of the street strewn cat photos our customers have collected! So please follow the instructions below and submit your favourite street cat.

The Exhibition
August 13th – October 2nd, 2025

If you would like to help me adorn the Beau Photo walls with street cats, we will be accepting submissions at the beginning of August. You have two months to shoot a new cat photo, or if you have a classic you’re proud of, we’re happy to show that too! Here are the details –

• Images should not be larger than 8.5×11
• Prints can be analogue or digital
• Images must have a cat somewhere in them.
• You can submit a digital file and we’ll print it for you for a fee of $10
• Submissions should be dropped off at Beau starting August 1st.
• All prints must be picked up within a month after the end of the show on October 2rd. We will not be responsible for them after this time.
