REPAIRS

FILM CAMERAS
When our technician attempts to repair older cameras, just the act of opening the camera up may cause additional components to break. Many of the plastics used in older cameras become brittle with age and of course usage over many years or decades can cause wear and tear even on metal components, making them delicate and more prone to damage during dis-assembly.

In addition, if an attempt had been made to repair the camera previously, either by its former owner or by a less-than-careful repair shop, threads could have been damaged and once taken apart again, they may be found to be stripped, making proper reassembly difficult or impossible.

Furthermore, once the technician has opened up your camera, what may have initially seemed to be a simple repair, could suddenly become a lot more involved. There is also a possibility that upon opening up a camera the technician might realize that needed parts are no longer available and/or cannot be fabricated, and will deem it un-repairable.

If during the repair, something else breaks due to the reasons mentioned above, there is a chance that it won’t be possible to restore the item to full operation, and may be even less functional that when it was first brought in.

We ask for the repair to be paid in full once you have a received an estimate. The repair will not be completed until it is paid. If for any reason your camera is then deemed un-repairable after the technician has started work on it – we will refund the charge.

You may refuse an estimate if you decide to not go ahead with the repair. Once you have paid for the repair and the technician has begun working on your camera however, the estimate/repair cannot be refused. If you choose to refuse the estimate and not have your camera repaired you will have three months to pick up the un-repaired camera from the date Beau Photo contacts you saying your camera is back in store. If a camera has not been picked up after three months, Beau Photo will dispose of it.

DIGITAL CAMERAS
After a final estimate has been received and approved, payment in full is required before any repair work commences. (Please note that in some cases your item may be re-estimated once the repair technician has had a more extensive look inside the item. At this point we will advise you of the updated estimate.) You are required to pay shipping fees to and from the designated repair house, as well as a refusal fee to cover the labour required to provide the estimate if, in the end, no repairs are actually performed and billed for. Costs may vary depending on the item and manufacturer.

Extra shipping insurance is available upon request. If you refuse insurance on your shipment, Beau Photo Supplies is not liable for any loss or damage that may occur to your equipment during shipping.
