New in Rentals – Canon EOS R5mkII Body

A few weeks ago, we received our Canon EOS R5mkII body for the Beau Photo Rental Department, and took it out for testing prior to making it available to rent.  The Canon R5mkII is a nice upgrade from the original R5 which was introduced in 2020.  The R5mkII has a vastly improved AF system, which can track the photographer’s eye and can be almost telepathic in its ability to track subjects.  Continuous shooting speeds using the electronic shutter have improved to 30fps from 20fps, but the 12fps speed using the mechanical shutter is the same as the R5. One feature new to the R5mkII is Pre-Continuous Shooting, which allows you to use your eye to control where the camera focuses.  It can be a game changer for sports & wildlife photography!

On the video side, the R5mkII now has a dedicated stills/video switch instead of the infuriating two button press method of the R5.

The R5mkII will internally record 8K 60fps RAW video, and will also record audio at 120fps high frame rates, something I sorely missed when shooting my R5 vs the Nikon Z9/Z8 siblings! The camera will also supportMXF-based XF-AVF for 10 bit 4:2:2 files as well as MP4, but there is also a split saving feature to record RAW footage into the CFexpress card and a proxy file into the SD card.

Available now for $225/Day or Weekend.

The Canon EOS R5 has had a price drop to $195/Day or Weekend.
