Writing With Light and Words – A Photo Walk

April 11 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm PDT

The origins of the word ‘photography’ come from the Greek words φῶς (phos), meaning “light,” and γραφή (graphê), meaning “drawing, writing.” The term originates with Sir John Herschel, an astronomer, mathematician, chemist and the inventor of cyanotypes, anthotypes, and photographic fixer.

Writers and photographers have been using their chosen craft to document and make statements about society, culture, and the world as they observe it since photography’s invention in 1839. We want to celebrate this history with photographs inspired by quotes from our favourite writers.

Join us on a photo excursion and celebrate this history by taking photographs inspired by quotes from your favourite writers. Exchange ideas and be inspired by others on the walk. Submit your best images for an exhibition in the Beau gallery space.

Film and digital cameras welcome! We will be starting at Beau and walking through parks and streets looking for the scenes to write in light that are inspired by quotes from our favourite writers. Come with a quote or we can share some of ours. This is a fun opportunity to exchange ideas and inspiration, and produce some images to hang in the Beau gallery space.

Registration is required for this event! An Eventbrite link will be put up at the end of March. Watch our social media and this space for the link.
