Those who are assessed as able to work get benefit at a lower rate on the Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) and to get it have to keep showing evidence of looking for work, and may be refused all benefits if they are judged not to be doing so. I won't be looking for ways to stay on benefits and cheat the system,,,but personally, I feel absolutely cheated by the Government. Except for one semester in college when jobs were scarce and a six month period when I was between jobs, but job hunting every day, I've worked hard since I was 18.
