Those that know Meghan and I know that we have what appears to be an on going camera acquisition problem. To remedy this but continue to try out ALL of the cameras we have decided to start borrowing cameras from our fellow camera enthusiasts instead of trying to purchase or hoard them all to ourselves. Not all are winners though and some are just easier or more fun to use but you have to shoot with them first to find out! Thus, we decided if we run a roll through every camera we are interested in, not unlike going on a 5 minute date with a bunch of strangers at a singles night, we can quickly see which are worthy of being added to our collection (or put on our list of “must haves.”) Camera speed dating!
Here is most recent camera I had the pleasure of a quick date with…. the Fujifilm GA645Zi Professional medium format camera.
A few quick facts about the the Fujifilm GA645Zi Professional, it was released in 1998 and is one of the only fully automatic modern point & shoot 120/220 film cameras ever made. It is fitted with a 55-90mm f4.5-6.9 Super-EBC Fujinon lens.
This camera actually belongs to Beau Photo’s Rental department and to be honest, despite my misgivings about my skill at auto focusing it in a pinch, there’s just something about it that makes me pine my little heart away for this one! I really like its size, its look, and it is the perfect weight! It’ll shoot 120 film AND 220, it will also think for me when I’m too drunk to do so….or it will step aside and let me utilize its Av, Tv or M settings at will. This really is a match made in heaven, and I am truly sorry we can not be together forever!
We took the camera to the BC Wedding Awards last fall with us to try it out and decided we weren’t great at focusing it. Perhaps it was just the low-light, or perhaps it was the camera, or perhaps it was us. This one our friend took of us turned out lovely though! I also took the camera out for a walkabout town to see if I could do better and it performed beautifully!
